Ameritopia
A History, Politics, Philosophy book. Equality, as understood by the American Founders, is the natural right of every individual to live...
Author Mark Levin explores the philosophical basis of America’s foundations and the crisis that faces government today.Mark R. Levin’s Liberty and Tyranny made the most persuasive case for conservatism and against statism in a generation. In this most crucial time, this leading conservative thinker explores the psychology, motivations, and history of the utopian movement, its architects, and its modern day disciples—and how the individual and American society are being devoured by it.In Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America Levin asks, what is this utopian force that both allures a free people and destroys them? In the end, Levin’s message is clear: The American republic is in great peril. The people must now choose between utopianism or liberty.

More About Ameritopia
But what is government itself but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. Mark R. Levin, Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America Moreover, equality should not be confused with perfection, for man is also imperfect, making his application of equality, even in the most just society, imperfect. Mark R. Levin, Ameritopia: The Unmaking of America Equality, as understood by the American Founders, is the natural right of every individual to live freely under self-government, to acquire and retain the property he creates through his own labor, and to be treated impartially before a just law. This is just me, but I didn't care to read detailed descriptions and many quotations from books about utopias. That could all have been covered in one chapter. The same material was written about already by Thomas Sowell in, "A Conflict of Visions" and "Vision of the Anointed." "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin is a superior book... Mark is a very intelligent and educated man. This comes across more strongly in his books than on the radio, as the angry ranting does not carry over to the printed page. Don't get me wrong, he has every reason to be angry; unfortunately, telling half the population that they are idiots and to get off the phone is not a mature, convincing... Great book but I could have used a few extra brain cells while reading it.
