Then we went by genre: mysteries, cozies, modernists, mountains, sci-fi, beloved childhood volumes, books we bought abroad, books required in school we couldn't sell back, books bought for us we'll read soon, books bought for us we have no intention of reading, books we want to... The stupa is a white dome with a conical stone tower emerging from its center. There are two eyes painted on the tower, the all seeing eyes of Buddha. The plot took a strange turn to Nepal and an even stranger one after that. So. I was perusing the aisles at BEA13 and was inexplicably drawn into a small-ish booth, where Conquistador of the Useless was sitting on top of a pile. I'm wary of novels that promise big things, particularly when they invoke Vonnegut and Salinger, which the back copy of this book does. In fact, the copy promises a "grunge generation... New review!
