More About The Phantom of the Opera
I absolutely loved this. I grew up loving the musical and since I was determined to read some classics this year, I jumped at the opportunity to buy this at my local used and new book store. While I originally thought it would be a horror, I was glad that it was a more detective style book. The writing is amazing and I especially loved... "Poor unhappy Erik! Should we pity him? Should we curse him? He asked only to be someone like everyone else...He had a heart great enough to hold the empire of the world, and in the end he had to be content with a cellar. Clearly, then, we must pity the opera ghost." (Pg 273) Really well written and thought-out! After seeing the musical first, the book really helped explain some of my unanswered questions.
